On Sunday evening, October 18th, approximately 150 people joined together at Kentucky Christian Assembly in Brodhead to celebrate 50 years of service to children in our area and to rededicate the facilities to the continued teaching of young people.  The evening began with a potluck fellowship meal.  Following the meal the program was opened by Steve Owens.  At this time State Representative Johnathan Shell presented a resolution from the State House of Representatives honoring Kentucky Christian Assembly for 50 years of service.     The first speaker, Larry Johnson, was minister at Wildie Christian Church when the camp was first envisioned and shared stories of “carving the camp out of the wilderness.”  Bro. Johnson challenged the group with the statement, “We are doing something of eternal significance.”  Following his message Tracy Valentine, minister of Brodhead Christian Church led congregational singing.

29 Strings of First Christian Church then delighted the crowd with special music.  Bro. Roger Carr, former minister of Brodhead Christian and camp dean, then spoke to the group and challenged them to continue this legacy and not give up in the teaching of young people.  Bro. Kenton Parkey, former minister of Wildie Christian Church and former camp dean, shared a few stories of his tenure at KCA and then led the group in a responsive reading that challenged all to continue to be involved in this work of God.
